    I hated playing the sax for the 1 year I did it in 6th grade. I was so bad at it and realized I was not musically inclined whatsoever. I had a recital and I faked playing it at the recital I couldn't even play twinkle twinkle little star or whatever the F it was. So I just didn't blow in it and moved my fingers. After the recital my mom and grandma told me how good I sounded and that they could really hear me. I'm 43 now, and that was back in 1992 I think, and I appreciated that, but also thought it was kinda funny at the time. I also took a welding class in high school and my spot weld broke so I took it home and super glued it, and got an A.

    I like the way you think and I like the way you teach. There are a lot of music education videos on this thing but not many approach octatonic scales or balancing them, so having this come up in my feed was a tasty and accessible introduction to your channel.

    As a beginner I'm confused, yet relieved if I understand your tuning method correctly. I use a tuner, I set it for Bb Soprano. Every note I play is always off. If I am playing A tuner shows as Bb. So if I understand you correctly, This is OK? I am fighting with my embouchure to get that Bb. Thank you. Appreciate your instruction and loved listening.

    Nice work,and good advice on this piece,Do you have some advice for bass on this , (other than arpeggiating the chords in real time,)maybe you know a good hack to not get "behind" on this ,I tried the whole tone scale adding chromatic notes ,it kinda works but jw if you can suggest something else to mix with it or otherwise? Ty

    As someone who only had basic high school understanding of music theory, this feels like a great place to learn even more music concepts. Loving the vids sirvalor!!

  • @shipsahoy1793
    @shipsahoy1793 6 дней назад

    Actually man, good job. I like it. 👍 Simple is better. I know everything about what you were saying, and some of the "theory" is definitely too confusing or historically relevant to be useful in application today, and people that think they know everything will generate more confusion, but the reality is you just have to know enough and hear well enough to be able to play properly. When I come across that back cycling, I'm going to apply what you teach here to see if it helps. And I agree with a re-label to Dorian maj7 for the melodic minor that's not referring to the ascending/descending melodic minor from classical. Dorian Maj7 was coined "jazz minor" at some point, with the 7th mode referred to as Altered Dominant or Super Locrian. Have a great day Adrien. 🎷

    I'm a long time blues guitarist taking an interest in sax as a senior now. I rented a tenor (starting lessons from a performing teacher) preferring the tenor voice, but the size of the alto appeals to me. Not sure which one to start on. The rental store said I can change to alto if I wish. Open to suggestions.
